“You lose loved ones to Alzheimer’s twice, first is the mind, and second is the body,” Scott Schultz.
Coach Scott Schultz and his family lost their mother Patsy Schultz to Alzheimer’s in 2007, and our journey being a part of Muscatine Walk to End Alzheimer’s is dedicated to his mother. On Sunday, April 3rd we hosted our first Ride to End ALZ fundraiser to raise awareness and start fundraising for the Walk to End ALZ fundraiser in September. We saw this as an opportunity to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s Association and incorporate fitness from our gym and share within the community.
The riding weather was perfect for a ten-mile bike ride from the Muscatine Mall parking lot at our studio, followed the Muscatine Trail through Weed Park down through Riverfront park, turned around at Musser Park, and rode back to the mall. For those who didn’t want to ride, joined Coach Cindy Klebe for a 45-minute Impact workout. Thankfully there was no rain or snow in the forecast! We have a great head start on our overall goal of $3,000 to raise!
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research – only dollars, and every dollar that we raised at the event and through September helps with efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
Scott & I are very thankful for the ones that joined us and contributed to an amazing cause – we are looking to host a summer workout leading up to the Walk to End ALZ in September. Please join us for the Walk 2 End ALZ by joining our team to help reach our $3,000 fundraising goal.
